Family Logbook is a private logbook for one household. It is built for two people sharing the record of a newborn, a pet or the week's chores, and it is designed so that almost nothing leaves that household.
What it stores
Your account. An email address and a password, held by Google Firebase Authentication. The password is never visible to the app. Firebase stores it hashed, and Family Logbook never sees it.
Your profile. A display name you choose, your language, and your light or dark preference. The display name is copied into each household you belong to, because that is the only way the other members can read it: the security rules forbid anybody from reading another person's profile directly.
Your household's log. Whatever the household chooses to record. That is the tiles it defines, the entries it logs against them with their times and an optional number, choice or note, and the people or animals it keeps track of, with a name and an optional date of birth. This is the content of the app, and it is visible only to members of that household.
Invite codes. When somebody invites another person, a short code is stored for up to 24 hours together with which household it is for.
Crash reports. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics records the fault and stack trace, the device model, the operating system version, and an identifier for that installation. It does not record anything from your log. This can be turned off in Settings → Diagnostics.
Device attestation. Firebase App Check asks Google Play whether the app is a genuine installation, which is what stops somebody guessing invite codes at scale. It does not identify you.
What it does not store
No photographs. No location. No contacts. No advertising identifier. No analytics of any kind, so nothing measures what you tap, how long you use the app, or whether you use it at all. There is no third party receiving your data for their own purposes, and nothing is ever sold.
Who can see it
Only the members of your own household, and Google as the operator of Firebase. Membership is enforced by security rules on the server, not by the app: a person who is not in your household is refused by the database itself, so a modified app cannot read your log.
How long it is kept
Until you delete it. Entries you delete in the app leave your log immediately and are removed permanently when the household is deleted.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Delete your account. It tells you, before anything happens, what will become of each household you belong to.

Children
Family Logbook is used about children by their parents. It is not intended to be used by children, and there are no accounts for them: a child in the app is a name and an optional date of birth, entered by an adult.
Where the data is
Google Cloud Firestore, in the region chosen for the project. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
